BDicty and SlovoEd - Dictionaries comparing table
BDICTY AND SLOVOED

Dictionaries comparing table

What dictionary is better: new generation of SlovoEd dictionary or much-advertised BDicty? Let's compare them.

Interface usability

SlovoEd interface is very smart and comfortable to use. To ease operations with words it includes toolbar with common buttons (Copy, Paste, Delete, Select all, change direction of translation). It is intuitively understandable to all Windows users.Fig.1

BDicty interface contains only Delete button. You can only use Graffiti shortcuts.Fig.2

Fig.1. SlovoEd interface: Useful buttons at the top Fig.2. BDicty interface: You have to call for additional menu.

SlovoEd provides an opportunity to select and copy separate word (parts of words) from translation field. For example, you can copy one complicated word in foreign language and insert it into your document.Fig.3

BDicty allows only to copy the entire translation entry, regardless of quantity of translation variants.Fig.4

Fig.3. SlovoEd: copy of needed word from translation Fig.4. BDicty: you can copy only whole entry

SlovoEd allows to add new entries, edit existing entries (for example, to add new translation of word) and even remove useless entries. Also you can temporarily disable all changes.Fig.5,6

BDicty only allows adding entries.

SlovoEd user-friendly interface has number of useful preferences (call for resident module in different ways, "Save last entered word" option, translate the buffered word at dictionary start, "Paste selected text" when switching dictionaries, etc).

BDicty has not.

Compression technology

Let's see the figures: German-English-German dictionary SlovoEd (Full) and German-English-German dictionary BDicty (Gold) require the same memory (1200 kB) on your device.

Yet SlovoEd contains 170,000 entries with quality translations. BDicty contains only 134,000 entries.

Price

German-English-German bi-directional dictionary SlovoEd (Full edition) costs $19.95. German-English-German bi-directional dictionary BDicty (Gold) costs $32.00. German-English unidirectional BDicty comes to $20, but you will get less for the same money.

High price does not mean better product!

What can you see trying demo-version

SlovoEd demo-version enables to use all commercial-version functions. It includes ALL dictionary features. You can find every function you would like to try, according to your interests and needs.Fig.7,8

Fig.7. SlovoEd: search of unknown word without closing Memo application Fig.8. SlovoEd: picking up unknown word

BDicty demo-version gives you a limited number of functions. You can form an opinion about the rest reading an unclear description - or after paying your money.

Also, SlovoEd demo-version contains ALL entries, which are in the commercial version. You can see whether words quantity is enough and translation quality fits you the best. The only limitation of SlovoEd demo-version is a program life-time.

BDicty demo-version gives you 10% of words. Are words you look for included in commercial version?

Impartial choice

We offer you to try our SlovoEd and check the varity of above-listed assertions. Make your own decision!
